ChatBoo Terms of Use

Last updated: 3 October 2026

The short version

1. About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Adam Jones ("we", "us"), the publisher of ChatBoo (called "ChatBoo Safe" on Google Play), on iOS, Android and app.chatboo.app. By using ChatBoo you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Who can use ChatBoo

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of adulthood where you live, a parent or guardian should review these terms with you. You must give your real birth month and year when asked. We may close accounts that we believe belong to someone under 13.

3. Your account

You can sign in with Apple, Google or an email and password, or try the app as a guest. Guest accounts have a lower daily limit and are lost if you remove the app or clear its data. Keep your sign-in details safe; you are responsible for what happens on your account.

4. AI characters

5. If you need help

ChatBoo is not a crisis or emergency service. If you or someone else is in danger, contact your local emergency services now. If you are thinking about harming yourself, please reach out to someone who can help:

6. Acceptable use

ChatBoo is for safe, general-audience conversations. You must not use it to create, request or share:

You also must not:

7. Moderation and reporting

We automatically check messages, AI replies and character descriptions for unsafe content. Messages that break the rules may be blocked, and characters that break them may be hidden. You can report any reply or character using ⋯ → Report. We review reports and act on them, which may include hiding a character or suspending an account.

8. Your content

You own the characters and messages you create. You give us permission to store, process and display them only as needed to run ChatBoo for you, including sending them to our AI and moderation providers as described in the Privacy Policy. Your characters are private to you. You are responsible for what you create and must have the right to use it. You may use AI replies for your own personal purposes, but remember they may not be accurate or original.

9. Free service and usage limits

ChatBoo is free and has no ads. To keep it free, there is a daily message limit for each account, and chat may pause for everyone until the next day if the app's daily running budget is reached. We may change limits or features, and we may pause or stop the service, though we will try to give notice of major changes.

10. Donations and legacy subscriptions

Donations are optional, are processed by Apple, Google Play or PayPal under their own terms, and unlock no features. They are a voluntary gift, so they are not refundable except where the law or the payment provider's own refund policy says otherwise. We no longer sell subscriptions. If you bought a subscription in an earlier version of ChatBoo, we will honour it until it expires, and you can cancel it through the store where you bought it.

11. Ending your use

You can stop using ChatBoo and delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account or at app.chatboo.app/delete-account. We may suspend or close your account, without notice where necessary, if you break these terms, abuse the service or put others at risk.

12. No guarantees

ChatBoo is provided free and "as is". We work to keep it reliable and safe, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or that AI replies will be accurate or appropriate. Your chats may be lost, so don't use ChatBoo to store anything important.

13. Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of ChatBoo or from anything an AI character says. Because the app is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in donations in the 12 months before the claim, or AUD $50 if that is more. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that cannot be excluded, including the Australian Consumer Law.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Northern Territory, Australia. If you live elsewhere, you also keep any protections the laws of your country give you.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make important changes, we will update the date above and tell you in the app before they take effect. If you keep using ChatBoo after that, the new terms apply.
